So ive been thinking about switching out of Vista and into Linux.
Im scared. Mainly for the drivers. Ive had computers where i switched OS before and couldent get sound or other drivers needed and basically trashed the pc(cause it was old as well). But this laptop is fairly new and i dont wanna mess it up fo life. Its a dell inspiron 1440. If i eff up, is there anyway to just undo it all/ and i need any other tips pl0x

It's not too bad. Linux is much more friendly today than when I first used it.
Most Linux distributions have great driver support, in fact, sometimes even better than windows. Usually they support everything out of the box, so you don't have to mess with driver installations.
Since you're new, I would recommend you go with Ubuntu. It's a very user-friendly system and perfect for getting your feet wet in. It also makes it easy to dual-boot with windows.

So im not sure how to get from Vista to Ubuntu. I have DL'ed Ubuntu to a disc, and tried to boot from that, but it just started vista instead(and then the startup time reminded me why i want Linux so bad). So...whyd this happen? Im a n00b when it comes to anything outside of windows(another reason i want Linux)
