    IMO, amazing game.

    Good graphics,
    somewhat realistic handling,
    good sounds.

Definately one of the best yet.

Haha you guys realise the only reason this game is amazing is because it comes from a completely different studio....EA bought out the studio that used to make PGR for Microsoft. Now they make the new Need for Speed games, and they seem to do it pretty well, just like their other racing games.

I played the demo for PC (since my xbox is currently missing it's hard drive, waiting for my friend to return it) and I have to see, even on medium gfx, the graphics and gameplay were pretty nice. I'd like to be able to explore more features of the game that the demo didn't include, anyone want to mail me a copy? =P

Is it actually worth getting? I mean, the newer NFS games haven't really impressed me... And by newer I mean Carbon, ProStreet and Undercover.

I've been playing it, all settings cranked out except the AA, only 1 notch down from max on AA. The graphics are pretty good, the overall gameplay is fairly good, the navigation menus are confusing at first, but easy once you tinker with it, but my biggest complaint is the way some cars handle. I've been playing the need for speed series for a while and this is the first one I've had problems with handling. If you happen to get off course and rub into a wall the car will continue to stick to the wall even if you are turning completely the opposite way, almost as if the car is a magnet sticking itself to the guardrail. On that note, some of the cars are extremely easy to spin out of control, including the all-wheel drive ones. While it is possible, its usually harder for the REAR of an AWD car to oversteer because of the power distribution usually being 65% front -> 35% rear (or close), in this game its possible to get every AWD car's rear-end to come out if you aren't careful. Next complaint is the "Corner mastering" system. I have followed their lines with exact speed and kept the line under the center of my car like you are supposed to and it still doesn't mark some corners as "mastered". Possibly just a glitch with a few corners, who knows, it was just released. The power outputs aren't very realistic for some cars... For example, stage 3 + all race parts on an Evolution 9 only produces around 470AWHP, when in real life it should be more like 700+. Next point is the reward system. You get points for racing, points earn you stars, stars get you to the next "Tier", and there's a lot of on-the-side objectives for mastering the turns and there's like 20+ badges you can earn for trading paint, clean laps, etc... All you have to do is race, but the complexity of the reward system may be a little overwhelming the first time you see it in action. Not sure if its a problem with my game, but every time I launch it I have to pick "English". Could just be an install problem or a problem with Windows 7. I also hate having to choose what profile I want to load when there is only one profile in existence on my computer. Some previous NFS games would auto-load if there was only one. I have also not found an option to disable automatic sign-in to EA. I don't want to play online but it always wants me too anyways. Annoying to cancel it every time, some previous NFS had an option to disable automatic sign in.. Also, have to agree with other people online (other websites) that have said there are way too many videos and they are way too long in some cases. For example, every time you race, you sit through the typical loading screen, followed by 10 seconds of the camera going around your car showing you how your car looks as people take pictures of it and fondle themselves.

I read that EA bought out another company that designed racing games and has given them the sole responsibility for developing the need for speed series (on another website as well as above). This is probably why NFS has a real cockpit view for the first time and probably why the handling is *slightly* different than previous NFS generations. Overall, I don't think the game is worth $50, maybe $30-$40, but it has a fair amount of gameplay.

I wish theyd add the huge free-roam from Underground 2, Cops from Most Wanted, cars from the WHOLE series, realism of SHIFT, and opponents from Pro Street and Undercover. So what I'm saying is NFSU2 has the best FR, most real cops from NFSMW (Undercover and Carbon were just fucked up they can drive up to 500mph), great cars from the WHOLE lot and SHIFT seems to be the most real. Like cockpit instruments, the damage modification (download but not by EA) and car performance. Like a Hummer H2 CANNOT in ANY way EXCEPT with JET engines beat 402km/h. And in real life a Lamborghini Gallardo/Mercielago beat 210km/h in gear 4. Its around the first 1/4 of gear 5 it does that. LOL and with the motion blur and physical effects (crash into wall and vision goes fuzzy and loses colour) lol very long comment -_-

I like it and enjoy it , but I do believe they are still going in the wrong direction with all the new racing games they are putting out. I think they need to go back to an underground type platform for the basis of their racing games, that's what they're best at.

I recently got a Logitech G25 and have been looking to get this game...

I dont really want a game that has arcade physics so I have been looking at all the reviews I can...And from what I can tell, it has pretty realistic physics.

This review is from one of the best in the Sim Racing genre and they are usually very tough on NFS games....

you are completely wrong sir. AWD cars will always have more power to the rear wheels.

    Dirt is for racing.
    Tarmac is for getting there.

I like the game and all. The thing that I've found is that more or less the game is next to useless unless you tune the cars for the handling. Like many other games coming out for the 360 and PS3 there are far too many polygons on the road to simulate a true road. Hence why in most every game the car will magically slide around though you're not spinning or slipping. GranTurismo4 was the last game out that did not have this problem (imo).

The corner mastering has a small glitch. Because it estimates what your car's specs are and what it should be capable of. You have to not only stay on the racing line it gives you, but go through the corner as fast as you possible can. Some cars on some corners it's damn near impossible regardless of tuning. Best way to get all the corners mastered, race with a 100% stock car.

My total opinion of the game is 3 out of 5. Great graphics, great racing, poor elements in the game, too much detail on the road, odd ball upgrades and coming to them, imo. Meaning - They more or less took the a-typical arcade racing games that NFS is known for and tried to apply some of it to a simulator. NFS in my mind is a fantastic arcade racing game maker. They should stick to it. Still worth the $50 if you're into racing games as it's not terrible, just different for NFS.
