Halo: CE was definitely the best of the Halo trilogy. Halo 2 was so-so. The campaign on Halo 3 was too short and playing online is pretty fucking frustrating because some people are just too damn good. Also, lag. Forge was cool until you realized how everything you built failed in comparison to the shit that wound up on Bungie Favorites. Also, Bungie comes up with some of the shittiest maps and game variants for online play. It's almost like they really aren't even trying sometimes.

So GoW gets my vote. For the Horde.

tbh i think they both suck.
halo was exciting when it first came out but its no longer fun and i pretty much hate everything about gow, from the graphics to the 3rd person gameplay.
if i had to chose one it would have to be halo.

My apologies but I must inform you that all three of those games take no skill. Gears is just B and RT and Halo is just A and LT. However I must admit CoD has its tactical advantage but you dont need to be tactical to be good.. It just helps a little.

i actually got gears of war 1 and 2 as part of a games package with my xbox..

i played the second first, and the story line was just fuckin awful.. and finished way too quick.. then i played the first.. and i was pissed off cos i kept dying so bloody easily and then stopped playin after 5 minutes.. aka.. both sucked complete fuckin cock.. and halo sucks too.. not getting into that..

I've played halo 3 online, like there was no tomorrow (getting to level 50 on XBL) and I've beat GoW1&2 in single player (played co-op and online quite a bit too) and I would place my money on Halo3. But that's just me. I'm more of an online competitive player so I guess it suits me more. Team coordination and and skill (this is one of the top games that requires the most skill in my opinion - so don't get discouraged at first) are very present in this game. GoW2 isn't so bad of a choice if you pick that. Depends on what you want in a game.
