Choboy Mic Spam (again...)

I have a demo of him mic spamming then kicking me because I kept asking him to stop and he wouldn't...

When I try to upload the demo, it tells me it's an invalid file, so if anyone can reply and show me how to post that would be awesome. Thanks!

Looking into these right now, had company over last night.

Here's the thing that I saw in there. You were the only one constantly complaining. I only saw one other complaint from anyone, in which it was short and only once. I'm not just throwing this out the window because I'm an admin as well. I look at him as any other player and I could care less.

Don't get me wrong, I know it's against the rules and all. But some people enjoy having music on while they play, and others do not. This being in particular I had talked to him about the time of this post originally and he's spamming for a Michael Jackson tribute of his own. Because he's gay and he likes him and wanted to visit neverland ranch, or something like that.

Because you were the only one complaining constantly, I personally think you should've muted him. This can be done in player list and find his name and click the mute button when you press escape when you're in game.

The other thing I will say is that to keep the server happy, and no one but you and one other person one time complained, some rules need to be bent from time to time. None the less it's not like he was spamming something that was ridiculous like a child voice of " hey guys can you hear me " or some random white noise to piss everyone off.

The one thing that I'm sure that he did do wrong, was kicking you. Though I'm sure it was because he was irritated with you because you were basically spamming " stop spamming mic ". It's still not justified, for an admin to just kick you over that, though you did have complaints towards you for saying it so much, more so than he had against him.

I agree with Baconator and blindkiller on this one.. the rules DO need to be bent from time to time depending on the situation.. but you really could have simply muted him from the player list.

I'll forward this thread over to choboy, since he really shouldn't have kicked you over that. I do also believe that some people just dealt with it since he was an admin.

Thanks for clarifying and putting in your two cents ownage, didn't want to handle this fully because I'm only an admin that's been here for a week and it's of course your server.

The ban point is trivial, however anyone who plays CSS knows that you don't spam music in a server so in a way they already have tons of warnings before they even join the server. If they didn't stop after one warning they'd be gone for good and could come and discuss it here with me.

This is of course no reason for you to start banning because banning these days puts a burden on Ownage's time unless you all have ftp access. Anyways I'm sure Cho will get the point of this thread, that spamming music leads to nothing and threads like this.

I think the admins should enforce and FOLLOW the server rules to a "T". I can't think of any reason any rule should be bent, that's why they are rules. They aren't guidelines or suggestions. From reading other (...and recent...) complaints of people being banned by Choboy for stupid things, I think he has a history of admin "rule bending".

Also, people may not complain when Choboy is around because he can con people into getting banned. For instance, we were surfing great river and I would surf around and end up in spawn where I would kindly kill 1-2 people and jump out, go all the way down, kill some more people, and reappear in spawn, and repeat. The server crashed and we all ended up at Akai. I joined a little late and spawned, pressed what guns I wanted, and I died. Choboy killed me from behind me. I respawn, press "Same weapons every time," and I died by Choboy's gun, again from the same spot. I respawned and could not jump out of spawn before he killed me...11 more times until I started to complain about it. I told him to stop spawn camping because it's against the rules, and he got really upset and said I was spawn camping last game so he can do it now. I told him "I'm not spawn "camping," much like you are." He said, "Oh, well if you just admit that you were spawn camping last game I will stop spawn camping you." Mind you, I'm still being camped in spawn by him...no one else, just me. I said fine, I was spawn camping, now leave me alone. He responds, "Oh...lying to an admin I see?? That's bannable!!" I said what do you mean lying? He said, the more you argue the longer it will be. I said "Ok," then got banned.

With this being a surf server it makes it hard to follow the rules perfectly and a lot of the maps don't leave anyone much more to do than spawn camp. You can't set a rule on spawn camping because a lot of the maps teleport people right back to the enemies spawn. We try to encourage people to leave spawn as soon as they get there but that is unreasonable and impossible to enforce. So bare with us a bit...

I would say that choboy was being immature around this situation but he does get accused of a lot around here with not a lot of evidence. He will see this but when it happens again make a demo so we can at least have something to go on.

Tbh, surf servers shouldn't be taken so serious, if you don't like the music and it was only you(?) who complained, you could just have muted him, if it was a public however and you were playing srs using sound and all it would have been different, but still, an admin at all times should enforce the rules cause if he doesn't, who will? What kind of impressions to people get from a server with an admin breaking a rule (even though its minor).

Granted, there isn't much evidence against him ever, but how do you expect someone to have a demo going, just in case? When someone finally shows good, solid evidence, nothing is being done, and nothing will be done, from what I can pull from Baconator's last post. If/when Choboy reads this, anytime he and I are on, he will have a demo going on him until he logs off.

Touche, but you know what I mean. If its someone brand new to the server and its some terrible spam to piss everyone off ban isn't to far out of the question. Someone that I have ( or another admin) has seen and or knows should just get a warning if people complain and or an instant mute. I can see what you mean fully, I will typically just mute them though. I was a former admin where the community were admin nazi's and you would have your admin removed and be perma banned over accidentally banning the wrong person.

I have no reason or need to ban anyone that is not hacking or just being a blatant asshole to me personally after I have warned them. As long as I know who I've banned for more than 1 day ( personally if they are that mad they can play somewhere else ) I have their steamid and I keep it on demo so I can access at any time and I can unban in the server regardless of ftp access or not. ma_unban STEAM_0:0:XXX. It of course cannot confirm it in game but 99% of the time it unbans them and I have already unbanned 1 person from the other thread of choboy mic spam # 1 and I have seen him in the server already.

Choboy is a good admin and rarely gets out of line, he bans/or kicks people when necessary and when he does play music over the mic he calls a vote on if people want to hear it or not and it always comes up yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
