Personal Use of Marijuana by Responsible Adults Act of 2009

Today, Congressman Barney Frank (D-Mass.) introduced a bill in the U.S. House of Representatives to eliminate all federal penalties for marijuana possession. This came only one week after he also introduced a bill to protect medical marijuana patients.

The Personal Use of Marijuana by Responsible Adults Act of 2009 would eliminate the threat of federal arrest and prison for the possession of up to 3.5 ounces of marijuana and the not-for-profit transfer of an ounce of marijuana - nationwide.

What's more, last week Congressman Frank introduced the Medical Marijuana Patient Protection Act, which would allow states to protect medical marijuana patients from arrest and jail without federal interference, as well as allow pharmacies to dispense marijuana to patients with a doctor's recommendation

I am not a supporter to the legalization of marijuana. I will tell you why, friends,familys, and relationships are destroyed because of this drug and any drug to the matter. It's a drug that alters your mind of which can lead to negative affects. I lost 2 friends because of marijuana alone, my cousin was sent to rehab for addiction to multiple drugs mainly marijuana, he has relapsed and haven't seen him sense... Its a big reason for gang violence sense its basically their currency next to any other drug that is out there. It has been proven that it has negative affects to your health sense it goes deeper into your lungs. Does it affect your health as much as cigarettes? probably not but enough can damage your health.

Who the hell cares, legalize this shit. I don't smoke, I don't plan on smoking, the government would make an assload of money of they legalized it, and maybe even tax'd it. Just do what they do with everything else and put an age limit on it. 18 should be the age for everything these days, old enough to fight for the country you live in, you should be old enough to do whatever the hell you want.

Saw most of the documentary "Super High Me" the other day, and over in cali they have it legalized for medical uses, but its basically possible for anyone to get. There are stores everywhere for it and it gets taxed bringing in tons of money, because we all know how many hippie stoners are out there willing to get this legally.

friends, family, and relationships are destroyed because it is illegal. if it were legalized, it would be just like smoking or drinking. when you take away the laws prohibiting it, you take away the risk of being caught with it and getting a record. drinking alters you mind too, so pot altering your mind is not a good argument either. your cousin is a retard if he went to rehab for being addicted to pot. the vast majority of people who go to rehab for marijuana are sent there, because its either that or a jail sentence. hardly anyone checks themselves into rehab for pot. Gang violence is around because pot is ILLEGAL. legalize it and the public will no longer have to buy from gangs. the gangs lose there "currency" and can no longer operate. this was also a horrible argument. i would like you to site your source for "it has been proven that it has negative effects on your health because it goes deeper into your lungs" it does have a minor negative effect, but nothing compared to alcohol or cigarettes. People should have the freedom to choose to damage their health a little if they want to.
