    rofl detroit is hockey town usa. not hockey town in general! any city in canada is more of a hockey town than you!


    anyway fuck detroit for some reason i have always hated them and not wanted them to win anything. i do like datsyuk tho. anywhooooooo i want chicago and penguins final with the penguins winning in a game 7.

    Detroit's Hockeytown crown has slipped. There were so many empty seats in The Joe during the playoffs last spring that you could have twirled an octopus in some rows of the upper deck and not slimed a soul. This year's home opener (against defending Stanley Cup champion Anaheim) was almost 2,500 short of a sellout. The Wings still offer dazzling hockey, showcasing three of the NHL's best 20 players -- Norris Trophy defenseman Nicklas Lidstrom and dynamic forwards Henrik Zetterberg and Pavel Datsyuk -- but ennui now grips the denizens of the down-at-the-heels arena. Despite the team's Western Conference-leading 18-6-2 record through Sunday attendance has continued to dip. This isn't a return to the Dead Things Era, when Detroit went to the playoffs just twice from 1967 through '83, but the Wings are clearly at the yawn of a new era. They have sold just 14,500 season tickets for their 20,066-seat rink this season.

    yeah... ONE GAME.. a Eastern conference game... not the final game.. an opener.. all of the FINAL games sold out.

    so who gives a shit.

    Also; all american sports have been suffering due to the bad economy so this goes for all teams... not just detroit...

    check the flyers attendance, they do well because philly loves its sports, even if we hate our own teams we still cheer them on

    i probably know more about hockey than any of you ; it's my favorite sport. the pens better take it because i have money riding on them. crosby is my boy. to tell you the truth, out of all the teams i wanted pittsburgh to play this season, i was more interested in them playing washington. now that was a great series. boo yah.
