I was addicted to WoW for about 4 years and I was never "brainwashed" I was just addicted. I knew it was just a game but I just felt like there was too much time put into this to just simply stop.

Yeah one of the big reasons that really helped me quit was how casual they made the game.

I have never played WoW, but I want to. I'm not really into those types of games.

I always been addicted to The Sims but I get addicted for 6 hours and than won't play it for about 3 months. It's all about controlling and knowing what is a need and a want.

If those methods are true, then the video game producers utterly fail at making me "addicted" to them. I think playing WoW is fun, but I can easily go away from the screen when I need to complete some tasks (though in WoW it's slightly different, since it's an MMORPG, and therefore has no button to pause the game, so I'd prefer to finish the dungeon I'm working on, but it really depends on how important the task which must be done is).
