    Default How to block unwanted websites?

    hey guys,
    i don't want to let some of my younger bros and sisters to access some websites.

    is it possible to block a website using opera and firefox,googled out this web filter, but it's too expensive to me,

    it there any ways or free software have the same function?

    You can edit your hosts file, if you feel comfortable. It's located in C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc\

    add a line for each website you want to block

    etc.

    www.google.com 127.0.0.1
    www.meatspin.com 127.0.0.1
    www.ownagepranks.com 127.0.0.1

    They're likely using a content filter, since a proxy doesn't itself block websites. And unless they're running a public proxy server (which I doubt), you can't connect through their IP.

    cuz even when searching for words like "sex and penis and cock" it gives you a website that says that this website is blocked

    My school has the same thing. Basically if you are browsing under their IP address, those sites get blocked. We use proxies to get around that.

    you can go into your router and add websites to the block list... that would be the easiest

    About the best option i can think of if you just want to block only a few sites like 4chan ect ect ect... if you want to block them from any site that has adult content or from being able to search for adult content you will want a content blocker, like they sayed if you don't want to pay for it you can torrent a cracked version

    This might be what you are looking for... and it's apparently free.
