I keep getting this problem when I play on a new map on your surf server. Is there anyway I can fix this?
That usually happens when the fast map download mirror is down, but I just checked and it's up
How long has this been happening, and is it one specific map?

not one specific map, and I just tried connecting and it still didn't work.
I tried reinstalling about a week ago and that didn't work either.
if you know what map(s) it is, go in your css folder and delete them and let the server re-download it.

If it's any help, I also can't connect to a webpage with Google Chrome but I can with Firefox, and I also can't get MOTDs in any Source games (don't have any other steam games)

EDIT: Seems that the programs THINK I have a proxy set up, but in actuality I don't so they can't connect to this imaginary proxy then to the internet. I still don't know how to fix it though :|

what os do you have
Vista.
go to your firewall and turn it off and see if that fixes the problem. If it does, just make an exception in the settings for steam/css.
tried the simple things like resetting your modem and such?
Firewall is off, although I'm not too sure about Windows Firewall. Lemme check on that.
I turn off my modem every night, no sense in keeping it on.
EDIT: Windows Firewall is off
Ok I fixed it, turned off LAN proxy in IE settings :|
