ventrilo aint a hard program to use. ive been using it for the past 5 years and the only thing that has happened is lag which is already rare. maybe ur computer is just old and sucks (being serious and not trying to start crap)

This is most likely stemming from outdated audio drivers. If you have a computer with a brand name on it, check the site for updates.

The other fix is most likely related to running the program as an administrator. (Right click icon you plan to always launch ventrilo from -> properties ->permissions tab -> run as admin and also change compatibility to Vista SP2).

Let me know if the problem still persists.

Did you try the other thing that I said to do with the whole running as an admin and in vista compatibility mode?
