In my chemistry lab, my group chose to see how activated carbon filtering would affect the pH and conductivity of water. After completing multiple trials of the experiment, we have found that the conductivity increased and the pH decreased. I now have to write a paper on our findings, and I have no clue as to why the carbon filtering caused this. (HELP ME BACONATOR)
oh, i think the increased conductivity might have something to do with a transfer of certain ions from the carbon to the water but i'm not sure

I am gay, except for Alex, I'd hit it.
LOL, it was off google but i did something similar to this 2 semesters ago in a chem class so i knew about it and it was saved in my favt.

Hey guys (Baconator/Armani), there's actually a second part to this paper I'm writing that deals with sea sand filtration's effects on pH and conductivity. This is a much less researched topic so I'm not expecting much but any help would be greatly appreciated and would certainly result in rep!
dawg
Removal of microbial shit?
is that what ur doing.

Well we tested the pH and conductivity of 3 different sources of water before and after using both carbon filtration and sand filtration to compare the drinkability and which would filter better. Like the carbon, the sand results in increased pH but I can't find out why. Also the conductivity of the post-sand water stays relatively the same, so there must be a lack of ions in the sand (or the ions somehow bind, creating a more viscous and less conductive solution)
But to answer your question, yeah the removal of microscopic organic matter.
