So I got a 1 time RMA on my 9800GX2 and instead of sending me a GX2 back they sent me a GTX280. A rebuilt GTX280 with dust still on the fan at that. Wanted to get some opinions on the cards themselves. I can see on paper that the GTX280 is a fine line better or equal to the 9800GX2.
Also the core clocks are the same, when the 9800GX2 was running on my machine it clocked at the same 602mhz that the GTX280 did.
Follow this link to a paper comparison side by side of the two cards.

Stick with the 280, more future proof, not to mention you won't have to worry about drivers as much as a person with X2/SLI has.

Drop that nvidia shit and go ati.
nvidia has better drivers...
You see, the dilemma here is not that he wants to buy a new card. It's the fact that he is determining whether to keep the card that he got as a mishap or request to receive the card he was expecting to have returned.
