I don't really personally like macs either, but if I get a mac I am gonna hook my desktop to my 52 inch screen and use the mac for garage band/etc

Computer is pretty shitty, if you want a top of the line computer drop 2000 on a pc not mac, unless you want those same specs but pay 2000 for them then get a mac.

A Mac is just a wast of money, if your planing on spending $2000 on it, buy a stock Alien ware only runs around $1000(and can be customized to suite your needs) and is still pretty bad ass, and as for using the mac for audio/band work, if you turn your old computer into a Linux machine (i recommend kubunto for ease of use), you can get a ton of superb music software for free Linux > Mac when it comes to audio, and with Linux, you can still dual boot Tiny Xp and have the ability to game on that older machine (nice if you want to play some of the older games not supported by Vista/win7).

eeewie overpriced alienware. Build ftw, or there are some good sites that have good custom built computers. Especially if you're looking for a gaming computer.

Many aspects of your computer are outdated but it will still get most of the stuff you need to do done. Macs have actually grown on me recently. They have an amazing lifetime and some incredible features. I hate the OS but you can change that. Macs pretty much pay for themselves in the long run because of the long lifespan.

Anyways, if I was in your position I would get the mac.

PS: Yeah yeah, some programmer I am, I know but believe it or not you can code in a mac environment!

    I am biased against them.

I haven't had to work on them for closed to three years now, so maybe they have fixed the issues with internet connectivity and what not, and hopefully there support as improved.
as I remember most company's will not support macs, though this might have changed... been out of the tech support loop for awhile.

it's all about personal preference in the end, buy what will suit your needs best.

If I get a new Comp it has to be a mac. I'm hearing this computer is outdated so it is a good idea to buy a new one?

Do your research before you buy it. Know the differences between a Mac and PC. Research whether or not all of the games that you want to play are mac compatible or not. There are a lot of programs that don't work with the Mac OS so make sure your main programs are not on that list.

Go for the mac if you're using it for things like Word processing, graphic design and just everyday use. Also mac sure that you get a laptop, they're unreal.

Go for a windows if you're going to play a lot of games (You can play most on Mac but again do the research). Windows has a lot of benefits to many people but know that you'll be buying a new one within 2 years and you're Mac will probably last for 4+.

Honestly? Your best bet is building a computer yourself. Macs are overpriced. You can build a computer with the same specs as a mac for a quarter of the damn price. If you don't know how to build a computer, you can always hire someone to do it for you.
