Can OP handle debates and serious discussions?

All the pros and cons have pretty much been listed. Personally, I think that it would eventually turn into a massive flame war.
But if a serious discussion subforum is made, maybe the people that are against it shouldn't post there so as to avoid the potential flaming and trolling. Just sayin'.

No i don't think any religion threads should be posted in that area. Those are threads no one can win and everyone has different opinions that can't be changed.

I agree, I think religion is just too touchy of a subject. And It'll just cause problems.

If we really want to have serious forum, then I think we just need to start a thread in general discussion called the "*insert subject name here* debate" and see how that goes.

If it fails hard which it will then, we will know it's not going to work.

If by some small chance it happens to not fail and ends up working out then, we come back here and actually try to put it together, deal?

No, because in the Serious section, there will be some trolls, but after a week or so, they will all be banned from the section.

We could probably take mohaas off the against list since i don't think I've ever seen him make a normal post so the section wouldn't apply to him anyway.

Is it possible to put certain people on moderation meaning if they post stupid shit in the new section all there posts have to be approved before becoming public (i saw ownage said he can do it for everyone), but is it possible just to do it for certain people?

But i do think we have people who can have serious discussion and if we can stop the others from posting it could be a decent section.

i would just like to point out from my observations that a majority of these "For" people were, in fact, for a debate section, but at one point (or all points) have said, "This won't work *insert reason here*". which is also what i have said. So either i am also for it, or most of these for it people are actually against it.

You said bad idea and gave zero indication they you wanted to try it. Some other members said they were skeptical but they wanted to try it so i put them on the For list.

i dont see why people are making such a big deal about this.
sure theres alot of trolling that goes on but we are on a prank calling forum so theres no way you can expect most members to be serious.
having moderators approve posts would just end up being a huge hassle and if you see someone thats trolling in that thread, all you have to do is report their post.
in my opinion if this thread ends up being made all members should be allowed to post and maybe have a three strikes youre out rule.
