Well I think The Olympics are a little bit like the allstar game in the way that you dont really want to go for big hits or skate balls out because you dont want to get an injury this close to the Stanley Cup also, much like the allstar game, the teams dont have any enforcers like they would in an NHL game. Not to mention they may be playing against their teammates. The games are also kinda about unity among countries and so having teams go out their and demolish/embarrass other countries teams might not look so good lol

You are 100% wrong. The olympics are nothing like an all star game. Winning a gold medal for your country is just as important as a stanley cup to some players. Enforcers are the people who fight not the people who do all the hitting. There haven't been a lot of hitting so far because there really isn't a need to hit yet. Right now the "good" teams are playing the "bad" teams. Historically only the American and Canadian style of play is overly physical. European teams are all about skill and fines, with a couple exceptions. Also, fuck that unity among countries bullshit. Teams are out there to win and demolishing and embarrassing opponents is a necessity because when two teams are tied in points in there division there difference in goals scored and goals allowed is the tie breaker. All star games are meaningless, but olympics games are with a shit load of honour.
I am gay, except for Alex, I'd hit it.
Now I know that you did not just say that something was more important than winning the Stanley cup to some players....
EDIT: Also, how are you going to say it is NOTHING like an allstar game? Allstar game = Best Players in the NHL put onto 2 teams. Olympics = Best players in the NHL put onto a bunch of teams...

I said just as important. The NHL might not let players go to the next olympics next time in russia, and Ovechkin said he is willing to be suspended by the league for how ever long to participate because it means that much to him. A lot of great players have very long and successful careers and never win a stanley cup, and olympic gold is up there on the list of things to win in a career.

All Star Game
Starters voted in by fans, who often don't know dick.
Players only picked from the NHL
Two Teams representing the two conferences in the NHL
One game with absolutely know meaning or significance.
No one plays defense at all.
No body really cares about the outcome.
No body watches it.
Olympic Tournament
12 countries each with an entire management team, who spend months scouting and picking the team.
Players picked not limited to the NHL.
2 week long Tournament with great significance, and meaning.
Everyone Plays Defense.
Millions Care.
Millions Watch.
