there is nothing girly about me, sir. Reacting the way he did brings nothing to him, it's not going to change the fact that she cheated on him, so why go through all the trouble when he could have just not talked to her? that's punishment enough in itself. If anything he just gave himself more headache by plotting a revenge, talking to strangers and such. They say hate is a burden and i'm one for making your life easier.

I don't think that would have taught her a lesson it would just make him seem like an asshole who ditched.

What's teaching her a lesson going to benefit him? and plus he didn't do it to teach her a lesson, he did it out of self interest; for the sake of revenge. He might hide behind the fact that it's about teaching a lesson, but truth be told he was only interested in getting even, he hadn't her best interest at heart like teaching her a lesson would imply.
