I have 2 MTX 12" subwoofers and an audiobahn amp that were given to me last week and i dont know what to do with them. I decided that it would be a cool idea to hook them up to my tv but i dont know if this is possible. Anyone here ever done this/know anything about this? also i would need to know what parts, wires, etc i would need to make this possible.

Yeah, well, you will need a sub output on your tv, or some kind of receiver.
I don't know if any tv's have a sub out, so receiver would be the best bet.

right now im planning on having my subs and amp connected to eachother then i will have the power wire that ran to the car battery going into a wall adapter kinda thing. all i need to figure out is how to wire that to my tv. i know it has the plugs to connect surround sound speakers but im not sure if they are the same ones i would use to connect them amp/sub to the tv. ill have to get a good look at it tomorrow because im too lazy to go behind my tv atm.

If you're TV doesn't have an audio out, which might not be that rare then you'll have to invest in some other technology. You could probably run the speakers through a dvd player, most allow for a 5.1 hookup. Or you could invest in a completely new home entertainment system and go with HDMI switches which would allow for compatibility with your speakers.

Does your sub plug in with a 3.5mm audio jack or speaker wire (black and red)?

if i run them through my dvd player it will only work when im watching a dvd. the whole point of doing this is so i can have booming bass when im watching a movie, watching tv, listening to music, and playing xbox. Im also planning on hooking my computer up to my tv so ill have a pretty sweet entertainment system.

i made this illustration so people can better understand what im trying to do.

I think I phrased what I was trying to say before incorrectly.

I believe that you can buy sort of a hub, let's call it a mixer, that you can plug everything into. Nothing has volume without it. I know this because a friends mom back in grade 9 had one set up. I'm trying to find what I'm looking for through google but it's hard when you don't know the name.

You can plug your dvd player, xbox, tv, everything into it. If I find anything I'll update the thread for you. Until then, good luck.

Than do that? It will work the same.
Pre-outs on the receiver into the amp.
Same way a cars head unit does it.

Or you can just send them to me. That'd save you a lot of trouble. I have a lovely head unit and nothing hooked into it. =P
