home theater systems just dont have booming bass like subs do.

I would have to dissagree, even these $500 pair of surround sound computer speakers with a 12 inch sub can do the job you seem to want. Some people even use them in their car.

I have my bose companion 3 computer speakers hooked up to my TV and it sounds like a theater with the bass turned up only at halfway. It has really clean, extremely deep bass.
