Google Launches Alternative DNS Resolver - PC World Business Center
I'm gonna try it out and see if I notice a difference
those are some pretty rare/awesome IPs they use though:
The Google Public DNS IP addresses are as follows:
- 8.8.8.8
- 8.8.4.4
Here is the Google document explaining how to do it
Using Google Public DNS
Some people may argue that this is just one more way for google to collect data on what websites people visit, but this isn't really tied to your google account or anything like that (I'm sure they could check to see if your IP is linked to a google account if they wanted to).. so I don't think that there's anything to worry about as of now.
Basically DNS is what translates a hostname you type in (such as www.google.com) to the actual IP address of the website. Usually your ISP provides a DNS server that does that for you, but now Google is providing one you can use instead.
I just tried it right now on my computer. So far it does seem a tiny bit faster than my ISP one, but I'm not quite sure how beneficial it is.

so I'm guessing switching from OpenDNS to Google's DNS would be worth it, since Google's such a beast.
Well it deffinantly HAS changed but I think for more better than worse. Up to 1080p video now versus horrible quality at first, partners get money for making videos which enables them to make better content and get paid for doing it. WMG did mute videos but it is resolved now (but I guess not is some countrys). Various other things. I think google has done well!
You can use this tool to check if Google's DNS is faster than your ISP. It also compares against OpenDNS and other public DNS servers.

I been using it haven't noticed a change it doesn't require much horsepower to do DNS so it's going to be Milisecond's difference.
Have you seen the picture of the computers they first started out with, some donated junk lol.
I think youtube has been quite good lately, fixed the player so you can actually skip to with in a second and HD is quite nice.
O thats cool, I would give you rep but apparently I have already given you too much.
